14th of May - 2019, by Gal and Scott

On this day we had to wake up quite early, since we had to meet up at Upplands Väsby station, at 8:00am. We gathered with the teachers, our friends in the project, but also with the 8th and 7th graders from the English School. After we all had met up and made sure everyone was present, we received our packed lunch and we took the train to Stockholm.

After we jumped off the train, we took a small promenade around the city of Stockholm. The Slovenian students were quite amazed with the city, the sunny weather boosted this effect. After this quick promenade the 7th and 8th graders seperated into two groups, with their partners as well, of course. Then wandered off to their respective museums. We (the 8th graders) headed off to The Medieval Museum first, while the 7th graders went to The City Museum.

Inside The Medieval Museum, us students learned about everyday life and structure of medieval Stockholm. There we had guide whose name was Joel, he showed us around the museum. We were shocked when they told us that thieves got worse punishments than murderers, but after some thought, resources in the medieval times were actually more important than humans. We were also taught about the standards of living in medieval Stockholm, which was very rough. After the (not so long) tour through museum, we took our jackets and bags and started heading toward The City Museum.

Once we arrived, we had a small meetup with the 7th graders (and their Slovenian partners) and after saying our goodbyes, it was our turn to enter The City Museum. Inside we were guided by one of their guides who continued to tell us about how amazing the history of the building of the museum was. And the history of it was actually quite amazing. To sum this museum up, it was basically telling you how bad Stockholm was until we got clean water in the 1940's. Jokes aside though, it was a very good museum.

Next, we walked to a place in Gamla Stan with a spectacular view of the sea where we stopped and ate (or didn't eat) lunch. This time was a really nice moment for talking and catching up on each other. When everyone was done we took a boat that carried us to Djurgården, and from there on we walked to The Vasa Museum. Both Swedes and Slovenians were amazed by the size of the ship and that it was able to survive 330 years under water! 1 hour there was not nearly enough to see everything, but it was enough time to give us an idea of the sheer excellence and power this must've radiated at it's time... until it sank.

When everyone left we decided to do different things, some went to an escape room, but most of us decided to gather up and go to Starbucks. A place where the Swedes usually don't go, (but the Slovenians were very excited to be American teenage girls for one hour.) We then went off with our drinks to Kungsträdgården where we sat and enjoyed eachother's company for a while. Those are one of those moments you wish would last forever, however we were all quite hungry so we all scurried off to get to Max in Hötorget.

Many of the Slovenians thought this was the best fast food they've tasted, and it does make sense. Once we were done eating we went to a gaming hall called Inferno Online where some of us stayed and played for around one hour. However this became quite complicated and was not as fun as we had imagined. Somehow everyone in the project met up and we all went home on a nice ride on the train together.
